UK Government to introduce new legislation to ban single-use vapes
Did you know that over 8.2 million vapes are thrown away or recycled incorrectly every week?!
From the 1st of June 2025, the UK Government are introducing a new legislation which will ban the sale, supply, and use of single-use vapes. After this date, only reusable vapes may be sold.
Why is this happening?
Disposable vapes represent a health & safety risk if not disposed of properly. The lithium batteries they contain are highly flammable and have been responsible for fires in bin lorries and injuries to workers at waste processing centres, and with over 1.3 million disposable vapes thrown away every week, this was growing to become an environmental nightmare.
What happens if I don’t comply?
Any business not willing to comply may face a fine of £200-£5,000 per offence depending which part of the UK the offence was committed in. Repeat breaches will risk unlimited fines, up to two years in prison, or both. Authorities will also have the power to seize illegal stock.
