Street Works UK Materials Classification Protocol

What is the Street Works Materials Classification Protocol?

The Street Works Materials Classification Protocol is the agreement between Street Works UK and the Environment Agency to allow Utility companies and their contractors to dispose of their waste in certain circumstances without having to follow WM3.

The Street Works Protocol comes into force on the 1st of October 2025 when all other regulatory position statements will be removed, such as RPS298 and RPS299.

If the Street Works Protocol is followed and adhered to then the Environment Agency will not normally take enforcement action against you.
